Google turns Gemini into a workplace agent, starting with businesses
Gemini can now plan and execute multi-step tasks across business apps, delegate to subagents and even gets its own workplace identity.
Google is moving Gemini from chat assistant to agent. The new business-first rollout lets Gemini plan a task, carry it out across connected apps and systems, and hand sub-tasks to specialised subagents. Each agent gets its own workplace identity, so admins can see and control what it touches.
Why it matters for marketers
- Agents that can act inside Workspace, CRM and ad tools remove a lot of copy-paste work.
- Identity-based controls answer the first question every IT team asks: who did this?
- Expect the consumer version to follow once enterprise teams have stress-tested it.
