Advanced Marketing Automation with Claude
Build a tested Python pipeline around Claude: typed outputs, batch jobs and cost caps, grounded drafts, tool use, approval queues, scheduling, evaluations and governance.
Who this course is for
Marketers, founders and operators who already use Claude every day and now want automations they can trust: repeatable, tested, cheap to run and safe to leave on a schedule.
You do not need to be a professional developer. You do need to be comfortable running a Python script and reading a few dozen lines of code.
What you will build
A small Python project, developed lesson by lesson, that:
- classifies leads into typed, validated labels and writes failures to a file,
- redacts personal data before a prompt is built,
- batches large jobs and estimates cost before running,
- grounds drafts in your own content and checks the citations,
- lets Claude call narrow tools with a step limit,
- holds every outbound message in a human approval queue,
- runs on a schedule with a log and alerts, and
- is scored on a hand-labelled golden set before any change ships.

How the course works
Every lesson has a diagram, working code, a test you can run without an API key, a worked example and a checklist. The code was run against a scripted fake client; the calls that need your key are written to match Anthropic’s current documentation and marked where you must check names, prices and limits yourself.
Prerequisites
- Completed Automation Marketing with Claude, or equivalent daily use of Claude
- Python 3.10 or later, and a terminal
- An Anthropic API key for the lessons that call the live API (lessons 3, 4, 6 and 8 run end to end with one; everything else is testable offline)
- Honest expectations: model names, prices and features change often, so treat the linked documentation as the source of truth
Curriculum
Module 1: Systems
- System design for marketing operations — Design every automation from the same eight parts, and decide what must never run unattended. (9 min)
- Prompts for pipelines: small steps and strict outputs — Split work into steps, give each a narrow job, and make outputs predictable enough for code. (9 min)
Module 2: Data and pipelines
- The Claude API and structured output — Call the API from Python, get typed results, retry safely, and test it all without a key. (12 min)
- Batch jobs, cost control and prompt caching — Process thousands of items cheaply and know what a run will cost before you start it. (11 min)
- Your content as a source: grounded drafts — Make drafts cite your own material so claims have a source and brand facts stay correct. (9 min)
Module 3: Agents and orchestration
- Tool use and MCP: let Claude call your functions — Give Claude narrow, read-first tools, handle errors safely and cap the number of steps. (12 min)
- The human approval queue — Hold every outbound draft in a queue, with a history, until a named person approves it. (9 min)
- Scheduling and monitoring — Run jobs on a schedule without double runs, silent failures or surprise bills. (10 min)
Module 4: Quality and governance
- Evaluations and A/B tests for prompts — Measure quality with a hand-labelled set so you can change a prompt or model without guessing. (11 min)
- Governance, privacy and your capstone project — Put consent, redaction, retention, audit and cost caps around the system, then ship one pipeline. (12 min)
