Vibe Coding for Non-Developers

Go from an idea to a live web app without a programming background: pick the right AI coding tool, write a brief the AI can build from, run the build loop, debug without panic, then ship with Git, a free host and a security check.

Who this course is for

Marketers, creators, founders and side-project people who have an idea for a small web app and want to build it themselves with AI, without first learning to program.

You do not need to know JavaScript. You do need to be willing to read error messages, run a few commands in a terminal and take responsibility for what you ship.

What you will build

A real, deployed project, developed lesson by lesson: a landing page with a working sign-up form that saves entries, looks like a product on a phone, lives in a GitHub repository and runs on a free host with your own domain.

By the end you will have:

  • a one-page brief you can hand to any AI coding tool (or a human developer),
  • a build loop you can repeat on your next idea,
  • a debugging routine that stops you going in circles,
  • a Git checkpoint habit so nothing is ever lost,
  • a live site with HTTPS, and
  • a security and cost checklist you run before telling anyone the link.

How the course works

Each lesson has a diagram, copy-paste prompts, a worked example and a checklist. Lessons 1 to 3 take about an hour each including setup. Lessons 4 to 10 each move the same project forward, so do them in order.

The course is tool-neutral. Examples use Claude Code because it works in your own files and runs commands for you, but every prompt also works in Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, Lovable, Bolt.new, v0 or Replit. Where a tool matters, the lesson says so.

What you need

  • A computer you can install software on (Mac, Windows or Linux)
  • A free GitHub account
  • One AI coding tool (most have a free tier or trial; lesson 2 helps you choose)
  • Two to three hours a week for about four weeks

AI tools, prices and limits change often. Treat each tool’s official documentation as the source of truth, and treat this course as the method.

Curriculum

Module 1: Foundations

  1. What vibe coding is (and is not) — Understand the three ways people build with AI, decide whether your idea fits, and set the four rules that keep you out of trouble. (7 min)
  2. Choose your tool by the job — Match your project to a type of AI coding tool, then compare the six facts that actually matter before you pay. (8 min)
  3. Set up a workspace in an hour — Install the four things every project needs, create a project folder with a brief and a secrets file, and see the app run once. (9 min)

Module 2: Build

  1. Write the brief before the code — Turn your idea into a one-page brief the AI can build from, let it interview you for gaps, and get a plan before any code is written. (9 min)
  2. The build loop — Run the four-step loop that turns a plan into a working app: ask small, run it, look, feed back, and checkpoint after each step. (9 min)
  3. Debug with AI without losing a day — Report errors so the AI can fix them, make it think before it types, and use the three-strikes rule to escape fix-break loops. (9 min)
  4. Make it look like a product — Brief the design the way you briefed the features, check it on a phone, and run an accessibility pass before anyone sees it. (8 min)

Module 3: Ship

  1. Git and GitHub as your undo button — Learn the five Git commands that give you checkpoints, backups and a way back, and put your project on GitHub so it can be deployed. (8 min)
  2. Deploy for free in an afternoon — Pick a host that fits your project, connect it to GitHub, move your secrets, add a domain with HTTPS, and test the live site like a stranger would. (9 min)
  3. Security, costs and when to call a developer — Run a pre-launch security review you can understand, cap what the project can cost you, and know the four signs it is time to bring in a professional. (9 min)
